The medium changed, canvas to floor, oils to resin, but the obsession stayed the same: create something that stops people in their tracks and makes them feel something they didn’t expect to feel about a floor.
Gold Coast Resin was born from that obsession. Every metallic pour is hand-manipulated, every color blend is custom-mixed on site, every finish is sealed with the kind of precision that separates a craftsman from an artist. Johnny is both. He’s JP Resin Certified and Don Resin Certified, credentials that put him in the top tier of resin artisans in California. He’s poured floors for Vic Blends, turned spaces at Fresno State, and partnered with Resin Laps to push the boundaries of what epoxy can do.

Why the studio is in Hollister
Johnny built Gold Coast Resin out of a shop in Hollister because it sits at the hinge of everything he serves: the coast is forty minutes one way, the Valley is forty minutes the other, and San Jose is up the 101. That location shapes how the work gets scheduled. A fog-belt garage in Monterey and a sun-baked shop slab in Los Banos are two different pours, and being able to read the morning and choose which one gets the crew is worth more than any product on the truck.
It also means every job starts with Johnny standing on your slab, not a phone script. Moisture readings, a look at the joints, a straight answer about whether the floor is a candidate this season, and then a firm price. If the slab is not ready, he says so and comes back when it is. That is the whole approach, and it is why the referrals keep coming from the same neighborhoods year after year.
